Peter Bowes

Peter Bowes is a freelance journalist and broadcaster based in Los Angeles.

A native of County Durham, England, Peter moved to the United States in 1996 and became a US citizen in 2008.  He covers news, hosts radio shows, podcasts and makes documentaries. 

His special interest is the science of human longevity - food, fasting, exercise and long-term health. 

Peter launched the Live Long and Master Aging (LLAMA) podcast in 2017 to tell the stories and explain the science behind healthy aging. In 2020 he founded HealthSpan Media LLC to produce media content focussing on the biology of aging, food, exercise and mindfulness.

Peter can been seen and heard regularly on BBC television, radio and digital services including PBS stations in the United States, covering breaking news around the United States.

Dr. Cate Shanahan

After getting her BS in biology from Rutgers University, Dr. Cate Shanahan trained in biochemistry and genetics at Cornell University’s graduate school before attending Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She practiced in Hawaii for ten years where she studied ethnobotany and her healthiest patient’s culinary habits. She applied her learning and experiences in all these scientific fields to write Deep Nutrition: Why Your Genes Need Traditional Food.

Prof. Marie Murphy

Dr Marie Murphy is Professor of Exercise and Health, Dean of Postgraduate Research and Director of the Ulster Doctoral College. She graduated from Ulster with a BA (Hons) Sport & Leisure and PGCE (with distinction) in Physical Education and was awarded an MSc in Sports Science (with distinction) and a PhD in Exercise Physiology from Loughborough University.

Marie’s research focuses on the effect of physical activity and exercise, in particular walking, on health and uses multidisciplinary approach that has included outcome measures ranging from the behavioural to the biochemical. Her work has contributed to the evidence base underlying the current physical activity guidelines in the US, UK and Ireland. She has over 120 publications (peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and invited editorials).

Sky Bergman

Sky Bergman is an accomplished, award-winning photographer. 

Her fine art work is included in permanent collections at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum, the Seattle Art Museum, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (National Library of France) in Paris. Her book, The Naked & The Nude: Images from the Sculpture Series, includes an introduction by Hèléne Pinet, curator of photography at the Rodin Museum in Paris. She has shot book covers for Random House and Farrar, Straus & Giroux, Inc., and many magazine spreads. 


Sky Bergman was the former chair of the Art & Design department at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, CA (2007 – 2013) and is currently a Professor of Photography and Video where she has been teaching since 1995.
